A year ago, after hiking the Alpine Panorama Trail: adventure Long-Distance Hiking Trails can be repeated by Switzerland.

It seemed too overwhelming, too magnificent and just too unique to be able to repeat it. It would be like a kind of devaluation of something precious, the uniqueness would wear off and become something ordinary.

Well, I gave it a lot of thought and decided to do it anyway.

Not to rediscover the magic of the last time, but to seek a different magic. I think I succeeded.

The number 2 Swiss long-distance trail

As always, the platform swissmobile the information for the hiking trail ready:

The long-distance hiking trail Trans Swiss Trail from Porrentruy to Mendrisio is one of the last great adventures in highly developed Switzerland. Diverse landscapes, cultures and sights await you on 32 stages and 488 kilometers of trails.

Just walk, casually, look and marvel at what surprises are waiting around the next corner. Measure out a place step by step, follow a dirt road and turn off again somewhere. Let your soul dangle and look forward to beautiful encounters. Get to know different landscapes, cultures and sights. Not worrying about anything except the next signpost. The Trans Swiss Trail from Porrentruy to Mendrisio offers all this.

From the Jura leads the long-distance hike through it Zealand in the Bern region. Via Emmental and Entlebuch it goes to sarner- and Lake Lucerne. You can reach the highest point of the route on legendary mule tracks Gotthard and pulls on the Strada alta high above the Leventina into southern Switzerland.

The Trans Swiss Trail comprises 32 stages and is 488 kilometers long. Thanks to the dense public transport network, shortcuts and changing to train, bus or boat are possible at any time. A complete range of hotel accommodation facilitates the stages. Of course, it is also possible to walk the trail in the opposite direction.

Another adventure

And so I intend to experience the adventure of long-distance hiking through Switzerland once again. So after the Alpine Panorama Trail, now the Trans Swiss Trail.

It is still a vision, a fantasy, but in my mind I am already on my way. From Pruntrut in the Jura to Mendrisio in southern Ticino.

So for a second time I take the freedom to follow my dreams. To do something not commonplace, something that possibly exceeds my limits. Perhaps it has to do with a genetic disposition, a natural destiny, to repeatedly exceed my own limits. In any case, it has to do with curiosity, perhaps quite simply with the weariness of everyday life, overcoming my own inertia.

Above all, it is proof of a passion. That's the only way I can explain it.

But anyway, the story goes on, on and on ... That's how it ought to be.

And here the trail begins – from Pruntrut to St. Ursanne
